Aminata was born with a split lip (cleft lip). She was ashamed of her face and had difficulty eating properly. As a result, the little girl preferred to eat alone, away from the eyes of the rest of her family.
Mercy Ships uses a hospital ship to provide more than 2,000 surgeries and 8,000 dental treatments each year, free of charge, to those who do not have access to them in sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, Mercy Ships supports the health system of host countries through training and infrastructure renovations.
