The challenge of access to surgery


According to a recent study, 5 million human beings do not have sufficient access to essential surgery. Since 1978, Mercy Ships has collaborated with governments and the World Health Organisation to help respond to this challenge.

Transformed life: Haingo


Haingo was born in a tropical downpour. Even in the hut’s dim light, the baby’s mother, Viviaby, could see that Haingo’s tiny mouth was slashed by a bilateral cleft lip. Viviaby’s joy turned to sadness.
